New resources for Level 1 standards being assessed from 2024
We aim to have resources available for the new achievement standards in Term 4 2023, ready for use in 2024.
These resources are valid for 2023 and will then be replaced
AS 91877 (DT 1.1 – 3 credit internal)
Develop a proposal for a digital outcome
For this resource students investigate the components that make up a custom-built computer, including hardware and software, and then develop a solution for a given end user. Comprehensive self-teaching notes are included to teach students what they need to know. These notes and assessment can be taught alongside DT 1.6 AS91822 (Develop a computer System), or separately. (Note: 91877 is a theoretical standard – they don’t actually need computer parts)
Combined Self-Teaching Notes and Assessment ($275 plus GST)
AS 91878 & AS 91879 (DT 1.2 – 3 credit internal and DT 1.3 – 4 credit internal)
Develop a design for a digital outcome
Develop a digital outcome to manage data
The integrated self-teaching notes cover both standards 91878 and 91879 – design and development of a digital outcome. In the tutorial and teaching notes students gather data in a survey, configure a flatfile (Google spreadsheet), store the data in a table, query the data and then design and develop a digital outcome (infographic) using the queries to provide the information for the infographic. There is an integrated assessment activity that assesses against both achievement standards. Students need a Google account and then can access the free apps used for the tutorial – Google Forms for the survey to collect the data, Google Sheets for the flatfile to store the data and create queries and Google Drawings for the infographic designs and finished infographic.
Combined Self-Teaching Notes and Assessment ($475 plus GST)
AS 91880 (DT 1.4 – 4 credit internal) Web Site Design
Develop a digital media outcome
The tutorial and assessment resource teaches students how to combine two types of digital media by embedding images into web pages using the text editor, Notepad ++, to combine HTML code and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to produce three web pages. Image-editing software such as GIMP or more specialist software such as Photoshop, or even a free online photo editor such as Pixlr Editor can be used to edit images for insertion into the web site.
Combined Self-Teaching Notes and Assessment ($275 plus GST)
AS 91880 (DT 1.4 – 4 credit internal) Desktop Publishing
Develop a digital media outcome
This resource involves the creation of printed material using desktop publishing. The tutorial and assessment assumes knowledge of DTP via any software you choose, but teaches how to effectively produce quality desktop published documents.
Combined Self-Teaching Notes and Assessment ($275 plus GST)
AS 91881 (DT 1.5 – 6 credit internal)
Develop an electronics outcome
This resource uses a low priced Arduino kit and the free software Kittenblock (similar to Scratch but adds Arduino) to design and create electronic circuits. The easy to read tutorial leads students through the theoretical and practical parts of this standard, and the assessment and supporting files clearly measure and assess student achievement.
Combined Self-Teaching Notes and Assessment ($275 plus GST)
AS 91882 (DT 1.6 – 4 credit internal)
Develop a computer system
Students are taught to demonstrate and understand computer parts and then dismantle and rebuild a computer, testing it and fixing it for a customer. Students will need an old “working” computer that they can dismantle, rebuild and install Windows 7 onto. These notes and assessment can be taught alongside DT 1.1 AS91877 (Develop a proposal for a digital outcome), or separately. (Note: 91877 is a theoretical standard – they don’t actually need computer parts – but here they do)
Combined Self-Teaching Notes and Assessment ($275 plus GST)
AS 91883 (DT 1.7 – 4 credit internal)
Develop a computer program
As they work through the easy to read tutorial, students learn to in Python to solve problems. They then use what they have learnt to complete the assessment.
Combined Self-Teaching Notes and Assessment ($275 plus GST)
AS 91884 (DT 1.8 – 6 credit internal)
Use basic iterative processes to develop a digital outcome
Achievement standard 91884 repeats the website development section in 91880 but offers another two credits to students who are comfortable with the additional effort and discipline required to document a website that has been planned and developed in an iterative manner
Combined Self-Teaching Notes and Assessment ($275 plus GST or $150 plus GST to purchasers of 91880)
AS 91885 (DT 1.9 – 3 credit internal)
Demonstrate understanding of searching and sorting algorithms
The tutorial and assessment resource teaches students about search and sort algorithms and then how to use Scratch to build scripts and run search and sort algorithms.
Combined Self-Teaching Notes and Assessment ($275 plus GST)
AS 91886 (DT 1.10 – 3 credit external)
Demonstrate understanding of human computer interaction
This comprehensive resource helps students to understand the required background material and shows them how to go about responding to the CAT.
Self-Teaching Notes including assessment guide ($150 plus GST)
AS 91887 (DT 1.11 – 3 credit external)
Demonstrate understanding of compression coding for a chosen media type
This comprehensive resource focusing on image compression helps students to understand the required background material and shows them how to go about responding to the CAT. We also have an audio compression resource. (The media type changes each year)
Self-Teaching Notes including assessment guide ($150 plus GST) (or $250 plus GST for both the image and audio resources)
AS 91887 (DT 1.11 – 3 credit external) Audio
Demonstrate understanding of compression coding for a chosen media type
This comprehensive resource focussing on audio compression helps students to understand the required background material and shows them how to go about responding to the CAT. We also have an image compression resource. (The media type changes each year)
Self-Teaching Notes including assessment guide ($150 plus GST) (or $250 plus GST for both the image and audio resources)
